Jack Robinson ('84, MJ '86) was supposed to be a professor of statistics. He graduated from Cal with a degree in statistics with honors, then enrolled in Berkeley's prestigious statistics doctoral program, all part of his fast track to being a lifelong scholar.

Alum makes smooth move to PR

The recent reunion in Sacramento provided an update on Steve Swatt, the Daily CalÕs sports editor in 1967. After a few years with UPI in Los Angeles and then 23 years covering state and national politics for KCRA-TV, the NBC affiliate in Sacramento, he is now a partner and owner of Nelson Communications Group, a statewide public affairs and initiative campaign-management outfit.
